Did you know that the idea for the first installment of The Purge franchise came from director James DeMonaco’s wife following a comment made by her in jest after a road rage incident? According to him, he and his wife were driving down the freeway in their car when another vehicle cut them off, resulting in a near-death experience. The resulting event, coupled with the fact that the other driver was intoxicated and showed a lack of remorse, provoked DeMonaco enough to almost start a fistfight, which eventually got the authorities involved. Following that misfortune, his wife, who he described as a “sweet woman”, turned to him and stated that it would be great to have one free murder per year.

Despite having a rather average rating of 5.1/10 on Rotten Tomatoes, the film managed to top the box office with $16.8 million during its opening day and a whopping $34.1 million throughout the entire weekend, amounting to a worldwide value of $89 million. Impressive numbers, considering that the allocated budget for the said film is only a meager $3 million. With its original plot, satirical and borderline-psychotic characters, gratuitous violence, and political statements only found in books, the first film has paved the way for two more installments, which could also be considered as successes, and a prequel that became the highest grossing entry in the entire franchise.

    'This is not really an HD version of The First Purge it's just a cam version of the movie. Well, i already expected it because the DVD/Blu-ray copy of the film isn't even released so there is a big probability that there won't be HD version of it. Also, you never were able to watch a video on The Pirate Bay; you had to find it, then download it from there. That means that you were stealing content that another Internet user who had uploaded it to the platform. It is guaranteed that the video you downloaded would have been blurry; would have been missing parts; would have sound that teetered between too loud and too soft; and a host of other problems, not to mention the laws against copying such content and the huge fines imposed when you got caught doing it.
